Investing in children’s programs: best practices in Palawan

The provincial government of Palawan has allocated some Php 7.5 milion for children’s program in 2016 and set aside Php 7.3-M for 2017.

During the recent annual Palawan Day Care Forum, the province— through the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office—rolled out the Child Development Workers’ Training which focused on new trends in handling child development pupils.

PSWDO continued to hold children’s talent contests which award scholarship grants worth Php 5,000 to winners every Children’s Month.

Improvements in the structure and services were made for the province’s Bahay Pagasa, a half-way house for children.

The PSWDO was also instrumental in putting up a child minding center at the Sanggunian Panlalawigan Building benefiting 35 children of provincial office employees. (LP/PIA4B)
