QUEZON CITY, September 7 (PIA) — Pagasa Dost is urging kababayans and Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Offices in Mimaropa provinces to prepare for above normal rainfall in September.
The Weather Bureau’s Climatological and Agrometeorology Division recently announced that there is a 55 – 60 percent possibility of La Nina that may last until February 2017.
In an interview with Anna Solis, Officer-in-Charge of the Climatological and Agrometeorology Division, Mimaropa is one of the regions that may experience more rains than usual.
Among those provinces this September that may experience above normal rainfall include Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque and Romblon.
Pagasa said enhanced Habagat, severe thunderstorms, low pressure area and tropical cyclones are the weather systems that may be observed.
The weather bureau likewise estimated that at least 2-4 tropical cyclones may pass through the country.
By October, Solis said the Northeast Monson (Amihan) will take over and send rains to the eastern sections such as Isabela, Aurora, Central Visayas and some parts of Mindanao. (LP/PIA4B)
