QUEZON CITY, July 27 (PIA) — The Department of Social Welfare and Development-Mimaropa and member organizations of the Mimaropa Regional Council on Disability Affairs will be holding a policy forum on July 27 in Puerto Princesa City.
This forum, dubbed as Policy Forum to Capacitate Stakeholders of Palawan on Inclusive Growth, will serve as venue for sharing best practices in promoting care and upholding rights of persons with disabilities.
Among those invited to share their programs are Carmona (Laguna) Municipal Mayor Dalhia A. Loyola and Regional Director Eduardo C. Janairo of the Department of Health-Mimaropa.
Mayor Loyala will discuss how her municipality supported the programs for their PDAO (Persons with disabilities Affairs Office) while Director Janairo will talk their Telemedicine program with the Department of Science and Technology-Mimaropa.
The whole day forum, to be held at the Victoriano J. Rodriguez Multi-purpose Hall at the Capitol compound, will likewise feature presentations of PWD laws and home care support services.
At least 50 local government units and seven private establishments were invited to send representatives.
Also expected to join the policy forum are Vice Governor Victorino Dennis Socrates representing Palawan Governor Jose Alvarez and DSWD-Mimaropa Regional Director Wilma Naviamos.
Other agencies also scheduled to make presentations are representatives from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (implementation of the PDAO law); the Land Transportation and Franchising Regulartory Board (transportation discounts), Department of Agriculture (five percent discount on prime commodities), Bureau of Internal Revenue (tax exemptions) and other programs and services for the PWD (National Council for Disability Affairs, DSWD, Department of Public Works and Highways and PhilHealth.
These agencies will likewise put up booths so participants can make personal inquiries: TESDA will send graduates who will do free massages, haircut, manicure and pedicure. (LP/PIA4B)
