ODIONGAN, Romblon, July 13 (PIA) — In line with the celebration of 2016 Nutrition Month with a theme “First 1,000 Days ni Baby Pahalagan para sa Malusog na Kinabukasan”, the Romblon Provincial Science & Technology Center facilitated the awarding of equipment to Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS) of Odiongan.
The assistance through provision of equipment under the Grants-in-Aid Program of DOST aims to showcase FNRI’s technology on Complementary Food.
It supports the government’s efforts in promoting health and nutrition especially in the grassroots communities and introduces a cheaper yet equally nutritious alternative food supplement that can be used in feeding programs of the BNS and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) among others.
This Complementary Food Technology is a ready-to-cook blend of rice, mongbean (monggo), and sesame seeds ideal for babies aged 6-36 months old.
The nutritious mix can also be used as thickener for other food recipes and as base-material for more complementary food preparations for older children.(DOST-PSTC/PIA-IVB/Romblon)
