ODIONGAN, Romblon, Apr 6 (PIA) — In line with Department of Trade and Industry’s mandate of protecting the consumers from unsafe products, their Regional Monitoring and Enforcement Team (RMET) conducted monitoring and enforcement in the municipalities of Magdiwang, Cajidiocan, San Fernando and Romblon, Romblon.
The enforcers composed of a Team Leader from the DTI Mimaropa Regional Office and representatives from DTI-Oriental Mindoro and DTI-Romblon monitored 47 establishments from the four municipalities.
Notably, there was no violation found from the said establishments on product standards conformity.
It can be noted that last August 10-13, 2015, two out of 30 total establishments monitored in Tablas municipalities were apprehended and charged for violating Department Order No. 2 series of 2007 which prohibits “Distribution, sale, or offer for sale of any product covered by Philippine Standard Certification Schemes which does not conform to the required and applicable PNS quality or safety standards.” Section 6, item 6.2.1 of said Department Order prohibits the “Importation, distribution, sale, offer for sale or manufacture of any product covered by mandatory product certification which does not bear the BPS required identification and product markings.”
DTI-Romblon has lined up projects and programs such as Consumer Education Campaigns and Consumer Congress to strengthen further consumer awareness.(GHF/DM/PIA-IVB/Romblon)
